The 2016-17 Copa del Rey season continues with the latest game.

Real Madrid return to action – following the Club World Cup win and winter break – with an incredibly difficult Copa del Rey tie with Sevilla. They – along with Atletico Madrid or Barcelona – were the worse draw possible!

Among this upcoming schedule is one for Real Madrid against Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday with it having an 8:15 pm kick-off.

Real – like Sevilla – are returning from the winter break. Perhaps our extension was a little longer but it certainly wasn’t an extended break through! Los Blancos flew to Japan and back to secure the Club World Cup before the year was out.

With all due respect to Cultural Leonesa I think we’ll all agree we face a sterner challenge in this last 16 tie in the Copa del Rey than we did the previous round – we ended up seeing off the lower league side 13-2 on aggregate.

In fact there wouldn’t have been many games we would have preferred less than this meeting with title rivals Sevilla. Well, a derby with Atletico Madrid or a Clásico with Barcelona aside.

However, if we want to win the Copa and complete a domestic clean sweep we’ll have to beat the best sides and home advantage in this first leg – ahead of the second leg next week – could prove crucial as we prepare to face Sevilla three times in the early stages of the New Year.

What will happen in this one though? Cast your vote so we know if you think it’ll be all smiles or disappointment for Los Blancos come the full time whistle.

We can say it goes without saying the expectation; most definitely the hope at least, will be for a positive result and one more tie. But will this happen? We’ll find out soon enough.

Ahead of the game we’re looking for your views on what way you think it will go, which requires you to vote in the latest poll in one of the options you have been given.
