Real Madrid produced a scintillating display to crush Real Sociedad, at the Bernabeu, climbing to third place in the La Liga table.
The 5-2 rout included a hat-trick from Cristiano Ronaldo who is getting back to top form.
Real Madrid got off to the perfect start opening the scoring in the first minute when an assist from Ronaldo saw Lucas Vazquez head home.
The lead was doubled in the twenty-seventh minute when Ronaldo fired home a cross from Marcelo.
With Real Sociedad struggling to contain Real Madrid, two more goals were added in the space of three minutes when, in the thirty-fourth minute Toni Kroos scored with a spectacular shot.
Three minutes later the score was 4-0 when Ronaldo scored his second goal of the game heading in a corner taken by Luka Modric.
Leading 4-0 at half-time, Real Sociedad reduced the arrears in the seventy-fourth minute when Jon Bautista netted.
However, Real Madrid were not in the mood to show their opponents any mercy and made it 5-1 in the eightieth minute when Ronaldo completed his hat-trick after some good work by Gareth Bale.
The scoring was completed, seven minutes from the end of normal time when Asier Illarramendi scored with a spectacular volley to make the final score 5-2.
Next up for Real Madrid is a return to Champions League action with a last-16 first leg tie against Paris Saint-Germain at the Bernabeu, on Wednesday evening.
