Back in January, when the transfer window was open, it`s fair to say that Real Madrid`s form was giving cause for concern.

But, it appears, the clubs` hierarchy tried to address the situation by bringing in some fresh talent.

It is being reported by the news source, Marca, that Real Madrid tried to add a striker to the club.

But their supposed choice of striker remains a little puzzling.

According to our referenced source, Real Madrid, along with the English Premier League club Chelsea, were looking to acquire the services of Edin Dzeko, who is on the books of the Serie A side, Roma.

Now I described the choice of striker as puzzling, purely because with Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema both being the wrong side of thirty, did we really want to add another veteran striker to the squad?

As it turned out though, Dzeko decided to stay with Roma rather than move on.
