Earlier this season, when Real Madrid were struggling in La Liga, with Barcelona storming to an impressive early lead, the suggestion was being bandied about that, perhaps, all was not well with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Our Portuguese superstar wasn`t scoring with his regular proficiency amid rumours he might be looking for a move elsewhere.

However, in recent weeks Ronaldo has blown such talk out of the water and is back to his impressive self.

On Sunday, Ronaldo scored the 50th hat-trick of his career as Real Madrid went on another scoring spree.

The club may have left it far too late to catch Barcelona and retain their La Liga title, but their impressive form does lift our hopes of retaining the Champions League for a third time.

But, it transpires that whilst Ronaldo was struggling to hit the net with his normal regularity, he never doubted that he`d get back to his familiar self.

The Spanish news source, Marca is reporting that Ronaldo was so confident in his own ability that when he was 11 goals behind Lionel Messi, in the race for the Golden Boot, he bet his team-mates that he would win the award, come the end of the season, not his great Argentine rival.

It`ll certainly be something to monitor in the coming weeks as the 2017 / 2018 season comes to a conclusion.
